Ukraine to adopt German experience of decentralization

The Government of Ukraine considers useful the German experience of development of local self-government and is ready to foster cooperation between the municipalities of both countries.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said this during the meeting with Mayor of Berlin Michael Muller, the Government portal reports.

In particular, the Prime Minister recalled that the process of decentralization had been going on in Ukraine for the third year in a row. In this context, according to Groysman, strengthening of contacts and ties between Ukrainian regions and the regions of other countries is very useful.

"Deepening cooperation at the level of cities and municipalities is extremely important for Ukraine. We are now undergoing a serious process of establishment of local self-government, so cooperation at the regional level will bring new opportunities. The Government will always promote such cooperation," the Head of Government said.
