Italy's Government has allocated EUR 1 mln to the UN World Food Programme and UNICEF to help people, who have been affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Davide La Cecilia said this at a briefing on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We monitor the situation in the east, and we know what happened in Avdiivka. This year, the Italian Government has allocated EUR 1 million to the UN World Food Programme and UNICEF to provide assistance to people affected by the conflict in eastern Ukraine," he said.

He added that the World Food Programme would receive 700,000 euros from this amount, and due to these funds it would be able to provide food assistance to the people who did not receive it from other humanitarian organizations.
