The European Union has decided to allocate Ukraine the second tranche of macro-financial assistance worth EUR 600 million as the Government of Ukraine has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the abolition of the ban on round timber export.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said this after a meeting with Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in Brussels on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Due to the fact that the Government of Ukraine has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the abolition of the ban on wood export [on abolition of the ban on round timber export], we have decided to allocate EUR 600 million to Ukraine. This will be done in the next few weeks," Juncker said.

He stressed that the Ukrainians should get mutual benefits from the EU for implementation of the ambitious reforms.
