The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine states that the state-run postal enterprise Ukrposhta doesn’t transfer them funds for the accepted newspaper subscriptions for 2017.

“The state-run enterprise Ukrposhta blocks the activities of national and local newspapers by not transferring them proper funds for the subscription for 2017," reads a Union’s statement available to Ukrinform.

In particular, according to the information provided by the Ukrposhta Directorate to the Union of Journalists, as of February 8, Ukrposhta debts to newspapers totaled UAH 265 million, or 46% of total subscription amount.

The National Union of Journalists called on the Ukrainian government to take relevant actions regarding the situation.
