Ecology ministry revokes 45 licenses issued to hazardous waste disposal enterprises

The Ukrainian Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has already revoked 45 licenses issued to hazardous waste disposal enterprises, and another 29 enterprises were instructed to remedy the failure, the ministry's press service reports citing Ukrainian Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Ostap Semerak.

“The commission of the Ukrainian Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry has been conducting inspections at economic entities which were licensed by the ministry for hazardous waste disposal. The results were predictable: more than half of enterprises failed to perform the undertaken obligations,” Semerak said.

According to him, 74 economic entities were inspected in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. The ministry is expected to continue inspecting hazardous waste disposal license holders in 2017.

A reminder that the enterprises involved in hazardous waste disposal should have brought their activities in line with new requirements within two months, according to the Licensing Terms adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on July 13, 2016.
