NBU: Ukrainians sold by $1.4 billion more currency than bought in 2016

Ukrainians have sold $1.4 billion more in currency than they bought since the beginning of the current year, according to National Bank of Ukraine  Governor Valeria Gontareva.

“The net purchase of foreign currency by banks from the population totaled $1.4 billion,” Gontareva said at a news conference on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

She also added that the hryvnia exchange rate against the US dollar has strengthened by 7.4% since the middle of March.
