Iraq defense ministry accepts 40 Ukrainian BTR-4
The signing took place in Kyiv on February 7, the Ukrspecexport press service told UKRINFORM.
"The trials have been carried out successfully. No serious problems have been identified. We are pleased with the process of cooperation with the Ukrainian side. Iraq has been running previously provided Ukrainian BTR-4 in the toughest field conditions. This is a new, advanced machine for the Iraqi army," the official representative of the Iraqi delegation said.
Ukroboronprom said they were satisfied with the result achieved.
"Despite the much more stringent acceptance terms of the Iraqi side (every vehicle was checked under a special program), all of them were transferred without any significant comments. We will continue to perform the contract in accordance with the agreements reached. Currently, the principal objective is to create an effective team to service the technology transferred to the Iraqi side," Ukroboronprom noted.
Ukraine and Iraq signed a contract on the supply of 420 BTR-4 vehicles for a total of $457.5 million in 2009. The main performer of the contract is the Kharkiv-based Morozov design bureau, and the co-performers are the state enterprise Malyshev Plant (Kharkiv) and other enterprises of the concern Ukroboronprom.
