Turkmenistan interested in restarting Kherson cotton mill
. Representatives of Turkmenistan are exploring the possibility of supplying cotton to the Kherson cotton mill and resuming its work, Serhiy Marchenko, readjustment manager at OJSC Kherson Cotton Mill, told UKRINFORM Tuesday, following a public meeting of the company's creditors.
"This morning I had a meeting with representatives of Turkmenistan. It was stated that the supply of raw materials may be launched (to the Kherson cotton plant - ed.) and a certain production volume resumed with their (the Turkmen side - auth.) participation," the readjustment manager said.
According to him, the Turkmen delegation includes representatives of state structures.
Marchenko also confirmed the assumption of the agency's correspondent that a joint venture may be created on the basis of the Kherson cotton mill.
As the readjustment manager said at the public meeting of creditors, the company's main problem is the lack of raw materials. In order to put the company into operation, it is necessary to ensure a processing capacity of 50 tons of cotton fiber per month. "This is just to begin the production. And for the company to start working effectively and getting net profit, it is necessary to process on a monthly basis at least 400 - 600 tons of cotton fiber," the company manager said.
As Marchenko noted, the company's equipment is currently concentrated at its first factory, but to put it into operation, it is necessary in the first place to repair its roof, which leaks during the rainy season, he said.
