Lufthansa cancels two-thirds of Friday flights, including flights to Kyiv
KYIV, September 6 /UKRINFORM/. German airline Lufthansa has canceled two-thirds of its scheduled flights on Friday, including flights to Kyiv, due to a planned 24-hour national strike by cabin crew.
Lufthansa spokesman Michael Lamberty announced this in Frankfurt on Thursday, a UKRINFORM correspondent in Germany reported.
"We are forced to cancel about 1,200 out of 1,800 flights on Friday because of the strike," he said.
The cancelation will affect the schedule of flights on Thursday, when 47 flights will be canceled.
According to the airline, eight flights to and from Boryspil International Airport will be canceled on Friday, namely LH 1493/1492 on the Kyiv-Frankfurt-Kyiv route, LH 3004/3005 on the Dusseldorf-Kyiv-Dusseldorf route, as well as LH 2547/2544/2545/2546 from Munich to Kyiv and in the opposite direction.
As reported, a cabin crew strike at airports in Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich last Tuesday led to the cancelation of about 370 Lufthansa flights, and inconvenience affected 43,000 passengers. The Independent Flight Attendants' Organization (UFO) demanded that the salaries of cabin crew be raised by 5%. The airline, in turn, offered a salary raise of about 3.5%, as well as an offer to stop fixed-term contracts and halt the use of temporary staff.
