The adoption of the draft law on basic principles and requirements for organic production, handling and labeling of organic production (No. 5448) will open new markets for Ukrainian producers.

This is reported by the press service of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine.

"The entry into force of this bill will allow bringing the Ukrainian legislation on quality of organic production in line with the international standards. Thus, the obstacles in the way of Ukrainian producers trying to supply their products to the world markets will be removed," Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister of Ukraine Olha Trofimtseva says.

She adds that the countries of the European Union, Asia and the United States are now the main markets for Ukrainian organic products.

Trofimtseva stresses that another promising market for Ukraine is Canada, which together with the EU forms about 90% of the world demand for organic production.
