The European Commission intends to allocate EUR 200 million in grant assistance to Ukraine.

Valdis Dombrovskis, the Deputy Chairman of the European Commission for Financial Stability and Financial Services, said this at a conference on the reforms in Ukraine in London on Thursday.

"Ukraine managed to achieve significant success in achieving macroeconomic stability. We welcome this," Dombrovskis said, adding that the European Commission intends to make a decision on the allocation of EUR 200 million in grants for new programs.

"This year, the European Commission will decide on new programs worth EUR 200 million in grants," he said, noting that the EU already provided EUR 2.8 billion out of EUR 3.4 billion that had been planned.

Speaking about the security situation, Dombrovskis stressed that it remained tense, and sanctions against the Russian Federation due to its aggression against Ukraine would depend on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
