The Ukrainian government plans to abolish VAT and excise duties on the import of electric vehicles and electric vehicle charging stations for five years.

Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian stated this in the Verkhovna Rada when representing the concept of the reform on stimulating the development of the electric vehicle industry in Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“For the rapid development of the market, we plan to temporarily exempt from VAT the imports of electric vehicles and their further supplies, as well as supplies of charging stations from VAT until January 1, 2023," the minister said.

According to him, it is intended that the supply of components to electric vehicles and charging stations should be exempted from taxes for the next 10 years.
