The U.S. Government has allocated $54 million in additional assistance to Ukraine.
This is reported by the Voice of America.
As reported, the intergovernmental agreement was signed by First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv and USAID Mission Director Susan Fritz. The tranche will be directed at the conduct of reforms in Ukraine.
"According to these agreements, Ukraine will be granted additional $54 million to support the critical reforms, namely, fight against corruption, economic transformation and democracy development. I am convinced that this additional assistance will bring the Ukrainian people one step closer to that level of welfare and democracy, they deserve and aspire to," U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch said.
Kubiv added that the funds would be spent on three areas: energy, compliance with the rule of law and "the most important one – the accountability of the Ukrainian Government to the citizens of Ukraine."
