State of emergency in national energy sector introduced in Ukraine

Today, February 17, a state of emergency in Ukraine’s national energy sector comes into force and will last for one month - till March 17.

This has been stipulated in a government’s resolution, No.103, as of February 15

“In connection with the blockade of anthracite type steam coal supplies and in order to ensure reliable, unhindered, stable operation of Ukraine’s united energy system, prevent any possible imbalance between production and consumption of electricity, [Government decides] to accept a proposal by the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry on the introduction of temporary emergency measures in the energy market,” reads the document.
