PM Groysman: Energy headquarters to consider situation with coal supplies from Donbas

Ukraine consumes 24 million tonnes of coal, of which 9 million is anthracite group produced from the Ukrainian subsurface in the temporarily occupied territories, and which totals one third of whole electricity in the country. 

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated this on TV Channel Ukraine, the government’s website reports.

He said that public strict monitoring must be introduced, if there cases of smuggling are unveiled.

Groysman also noted that companies supplying coal from the occupied territories of Donbas are registered in Ukraine and pay taxes.

According to the prime minister, on Monday, February 13, the Energy Headquarters will hold a meeting to consider possible threats to the process of providing Ukrainian citizens with heat in connection with the blocking of coal supplies to Ukraine.
