The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade plans to continue reducing the number of permitting documents so that to ease business activities in Ukraine.

Stepan Kubiv, Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, stated this during a seminar “Economic development of regions: strategy and tools for attracting investments and raising export potential,” an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“In 2017, we’re planning to continue a large-scale deregulation. We’re planning to reduce the number of permitting documents: tax, customs, foreign exchange restrictions. We’re also planning to convert the process of obtaining at least 80% of permits and licenses into an electronic form," said Stepan Kubiv.

He noted that Government had already made certain steps to remove barriers that prevented business from development, namely: the number of types of agricultural activities subject to licensing was reduced to current 30 from 56. Also, the terms of business registration were reduced to one day from five.

"The mandatory certification for 90% of goods was reduced and quarantine certificates were canceled, which costed UAH 2 billion per year for businesses. Also, about 15,000 Soviet state standards were abolished," Stepan Kubiv added.
