The European Union will allocate EUR 16 million for the fight against corruption in Ukraine.

This is stipulated in the agreement on financing of the EU Anti-Corruption Initiative in Ukraine, which was signed at the EU-Ukraine summit in Brussels today, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The document was signed by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze and EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn.

The total budget for the initiative is EUR 16.34 million, including the EU’s contribution of EUR 15 million and the contribution of the Danish Foreign Ministry in the amount of EUR 1.34 million.

The funds will be directed at strengthening the capacities of public authorities responsible for the fight against corruption, improving the parliamentary oversight over the process of reform, and involving the civil society and the media in implementation of the anti-corruption measures.
