Zelensky responds to Rheinmetall CEO’s remark on Ukrainian housewives building drones
The head of state made this statement during a conversation with journalists, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
"If every housewife in Ukraine can really produce drones, then every housewife in Ukraine can be the CEO of Rheinmetall. I congratulate our Ukrainian defense-industrial complex on this high level of achievement. To be honest, in my view, today we must compete not with rhetoric, but with technology and results. And we demonstrate the results of these technologies every day on the battlefield—on land, in the air, and at sea," he said.
Zelensky expressed confidence that the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex already holds a certain place in the world.
“Regarding some of our systems and our systematic approach, I believe we are unique; only we have the relevant experience,” he added.
As reported by Ukrinform, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger, in a comment to The Atlantic, spoke disparagingly about Ukrainian drones, calling them “a Lego game” and “the work of Ukrainian housewives with 3D printers in their kitchens,” and stating that they “lack true technological innovation.”
Following this, the German defense company published a statement in which it praised the innovative strength and fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people, calling them a source of inspiration for the company.
