Norway delivers missiles for NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine

Norway has recently delivered a significant number of air defense missiles to Ukraine to help the country defend itself against Russian attacks.

This was reported on the Norwegian government’s website, as cited by Ukrinform.

It is noted that air defense is a priority in Norway’s military support to Ukraine.

“Through the Nansen programme, NOK 85 billion has been set aside for civil and military support to Ukraine in 2026. We will continue to support Ukraine in the fight they are facing,” said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

The Norwegian government’s statement emphasizes that Russia is conducting targeted attacks with drones and missiles on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, causing power and heating losses in the harsh winter conditions.

NASAMS air defense systems have been provided to Ukraine by several countries, including the United States, Canada, Lithuania, and Norway. The system has proven highly effective against Russian missiles, according to the press release.

“Through cooperation with the United States and others, Norway has quickly delivered air defense missiles to Ukraine at a critical stage so that the NASAMS system can continue to protect Ukrainian citizens from deadly air strikes,” said Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik.

The statement also notes that on Thursday, Norway’s defense minister held his first online meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Mykhailo Fedorov.
