Defense Ministry preparing new types of contracts for military personnel with clear service terms — DM Shmyhal

This was announced by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

According to him, the main innovation will be guaranteed clear terms of service.

“Contracts will be for 1 to 5 years. For contracts of 2-5 years, there will be a one-year deferral from mobilization upon completion of the contract,” the minister said.

He said that after the legislative changes are adopted, all military personnel will be able to sign contracts, both those who are already in the ranks of the Armed Forces and those who will join them in the future.

The new contracts will also include an increase in monthly payments, signing bonuses, and an expanded social package.

“We are responding to a key request from the military, their families, and society. The new contracts are about fairness and predictability,” Shmyhal emphasized.

He added that the Ministry of Defense is currently working with the government, the Ministry of Finance, and partners. All details will be announced in the near future.

As reported by Ukrinform, during a conversation with journalists, Zelensky said that consultations are currently underway on the specific amounts and mechanisms for financing the new contract system for military personnel.
