Norway is allocating approximately 7 billion Norwegian kroner (USD 696.12 million) to finance air defense systems for Ukraine.

This is stated in a press release of the Norwegian government on Sunday, August 24, Ukrinform reports.

"Together with Germany, we are now ensuring that Ukraine receives powerful air defense systems. Germany and Norway are working very closely together to support Ukraine in its fight to defend the country and protect the civilian population against Russian air attacks,” Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated.

It is noted that Norway and Germany are funding two Patriot systems, including missiles for them. In addition, Norway is contributing to the procurement of air defense radars from the German manufacturer Hensoldt and air defense systems from Kongsberg.

“Air defense is also crucial for protecting military units and infrastructure. Now, together with Germany, we are further stepping up our efforts,” Minister of Defence Tore O. Sandvik emphasized.

Earlier this summer, German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre agreed to transfer two Patriot systems to Ukraine, which are currently in Germany and will be delivered to Ukraine as soon as possible. The United States confirmed it would replace the transferred systems, and Norway pledged to make a financial contribution toward their replacement.

As reported by Ukrinform, Norway had previously allocated 6.5 billion Norwegian kroner (over USD 644 million) for the purchase of drones and related technologies from Ukrainian and European manufacturers.
