Ukraine submits inquiry on status of 41 F-18 fighters stored in Australia - ambassador

Ukraine has filed a request with Australia as to the current condition of 41 decommissioned F-18 fighter jets.

This was stated by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, who gave a comment to AFP, Ukrinform reports citing The Defense Post.

The Ukrainian diplomat noted that an initial inquiry had been made about the condition of approximately 41 aircraft stored at an air base north of Sydney.

"There has been a request for information. Ukraine is looking at fighter jet capabilities, including this one," Myroshnychenko said.

As reported earlier, Australia, the U.S., and Ukraine are discussing the possibility of transferring to Kyiv 41 F/A-18 Hornets of the Royal Australian Air Force.
