Verkhovna Rada appoints Dmytro Lubinets as new Ombudsman

MPs appointed Dmytro Lubinets as the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.

As MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak posted on Telegram, the corresponding decision was supported by 250 parliamentarians.

"After an hour's discussion, the candidacy of Dmytro Lubinets for the post of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights was supported," Zheleznyak wrote.

As reported, on May 31, MPs dismissed Liudmyla Denisova from the post of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. Subsequently, Verkhovna Rada Chair Ruslan Stefanchuk submitted to the Parliament a proposal to appoint Dmytro Lubinets, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, De-occupation, and Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Donetsk, Luhansk Regions, and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations, as the Ombudsman.
