Countering the illegal arms supplies to the occupied territories is one of the security priorities for Ukraine, which protects its sovereignty and territorial integrity from Russian aggression.

"Ukraine is facing the illegal large-scale arms supplies across the border section in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and in Crimea," Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Yuriy Vitrenko said during a UN Security Council meeting on small arms and light weapons on November 22, an Ukrinform correspondent reported from New York.

He reminded the meeting participants about the regular reports on "secret night convoys entering and leaving Ukraine". According to Vitrenko, an increasing number of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment is being delivered to Ukraine under the pretext of humanitarian aid or by other means.

Such actions run counter to the letter and spirit of the UN program to prevent the illicit trafficking in small arms and light weapons and undermine global and regional efforts in this area, Vitrenko said.

"The only effective way to stop this is to restore the full control of the Government of Ukraine over the entire area of internationally recognized borders of our country," the Ukrainian diplomat concluded.
