Ukraine hopes that Canadian training Operation UNIFIER, whose mandate expires next year, will be extended.

“We look forward to extending this mission as it is valued by both Ukraine and Canada, allowing not only Ukrainians to learn from Canadians, but vice versa. We have the experience of waging war against the world’s second-largest army for which we pay a very high price, and it is important that our closest allies can also benefit from this,” Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Andriy Shevchenko said in an interview with Ukrinform.

He added that “more than 26,000 Ukrainian soldiers have already undergone UNIFIER training, gaining access to specially selected knowledge that can save lives.” “This training makes our army stronger and brings it closer to victory,” the Ambassador said.

According to Shevchenko, Ukraine also hopes to deepen cooperation with Canada in the intelligence data exchange. “High-quality intelligence data is important to us, and Canada, as an authoritative player in the world of intelligence, can be very valuable,” the diplomat said.

As a reminder, about 200 Canadian troops stay in Ukraine as part of Operation UNIFIER. They are stationed in various locations in central and western Ukraine, headquartered at Yavoriv, Lviv region.
