OSCE records over 40 ceasefire violations in Donbas in past 24 hrs

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has recorded 40 violations of the ceasefire in Donetsk region and two breaches in Luhansk region.

This was stated in SMM’s Daily Report No.168/2021, released on July 21, 2021, Ukrinform reports.

"In Donetsk region, the SMM recorded 40 ceasefire violations, including 12 explosions," the report reads.

Most of the violations were recorded east and north of Maiorsk (government-controlled, 45 km northeast of Donetsk).

Over the previous reporting period, a total of 86 ceasefire violations were recorded in the area, most of which also occurred in the area east of Maiorsk.

"In Luhansk region, the SMM recorded two ceasefire violations in an area near the disengagement area near Zolote (government-controlled, 60km west of Luhansk)," the SMM said.

During the previous reporting period, the OSCE monitors recorded four ceasefire violations.

It should be recalled that following the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on July 22, 2020, where an agreement was reached on additional measures to enhance the ceasefire, starting at 00:01 on July 27, 2020, and until the end of the reporting period, the SMM recorded at least 45,914 truce breaches across Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
