Minister Taran informs UK’s Ambassador about situation on contact line
“The Minister of Defence of Ukraine informed the head of the British diplomatic mission in Ukraine about the security situation on the line of contact with the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. It was also emphasised that the Kremlin was increasing its military presence near the state border of Ukraine and in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” the press service of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported on April16.
As noted, Melinda Simmons reaffirmed the UK’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She assured that the United Kingdom would continue to train Ukrainian servicepersons and enhance the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to implement defence reform according to NATO standards.
In addition, the parties agreed to continue joint work on the development of bilateral relations and strengthening security and defence cooperation.
As reported, Russia has lately been building up troops near Ukraine’s state border in the north, east and south, as well as in the temporarily occupied Crimea. In addition, the number of ceasefire violations committed by the Russian armed formations in eastern Ukraine has increased. Ukrainian troops suffer casualties. At the same time, Russia carries out a propaganda campaign to justify aggression against Ukraine.
