Conscription in Ukraine to begin on April 1 and October 1 - decree

Decree No. 71/2021 "On Discharge of Conscripts, Terms of Conscription and Regular Conscription of Citizens of Ukraine for Fixed-term Military Service in 2021" was published on the president's website on Wednesday, February 24.

According to the document, the conscription of Ukrainian citizens for fixed-term military service will be carried out during April-June and during October-December 2021.

The draft commissions will start working on April 1 and October 1, 2021, respectively. Preparations for the conscription will begin on March 1 and September 1, 2021.

"Conscription for fixed-term military service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces ensures the 15-85% ratio of the share of conscripts on fixed-term military service to the share of servicemen on contracts. Thus, the share of conscripts on fixed-term military service in the total number of troops will continue to decrease every year," the report said.
