Reznikov, Landsbergis discuss security situation in Donbas and Crimea
Oleksiy Reznikov told Gabrielius Landsbergis about Ukraine's steps within the framework of the Minsk agreements. "Ukraine is fulfilling all the points within the framework of the agreements, but I have to say that now we are seeing signs of escalation. Ukrainian soldiers are dying again. Russia is constantly blocking consultations within the Trilateral Contact Group, including because of the aggravation of the situation at the front," the Ukrainian vice premier said.
Reznikov expressed hope for Lithuania's continued support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and support for maintaining sanctions against Russia. The parties also discussed the development of frontline territories.
The deputy prime minister also spoke about the steps taken by the Ukrainian authorities in relation to the government-controlled territories, in particular, the Strategy for Economic Development of Donetsk and Luhansk Regions. The strategy’s key goal is to ensure sustainable community development through investment.
The issue of the Russian-occupied Crimea was discussed separately. Reznikov expressed hope for Lithuania's active participation in the international summit on the de-occupation of Crimea within the framework of the Crimean Platform, which will take place in Kyiv this year.
The parties also discussed bilateral relations, cooperation within the Three Seas Initiative and the Lublin Triangle, which is an important element in the development and strengthening of Central Europe, and the strengthening of Ukraine as a full-fledged member of the European and Euro-Atlantic communities.
