Russian-led forces violate ceasefire in Donbas nine times
“The overwhelming majority of shelling was carried out by the armed formations of the Russian Federation in the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘East’. In particular, the enemy opened fire from 120mm mortars, automatic, anti-tank mounted and under-barrel grenade launchers, and heavy machine guns on Ukrainian positions near Vodiane in the Sea of Azov area. The invaders also fired grenade launchers and small arms near the village of Vodiane, Donetsk region, and outside Talakivka (17km north-east of Mariupol),” the press center of the JFO Headquarters reports.
In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘North’, the Russian occupation forces opened provocative warning fire from small arms and a grenade launcher near Pivdenne (40km north-east of Donetsk), where repair work was underway to restore water supply at the Horlivka-Toretsk water pipeline section. To avoid casualties, the working brigade immediately left the area of fire, work was stopped.
The OSCE representatives were informed about all the facts of the ceasefire violations through the Ukrainian side of the JCCC.
Ukrainian defenders opened fire in response to the shelling of the armed formations of the Russian Federation. Ukrainian troops sustained no casualties.
Today, January 9, the ceasefire has been observed along the entire contact line. No casualties among Ukrainian servicepersons have been reported.
"The situation in the Joint Forces Operation area remains controlled by Ukrainian soldiers," the JFO Headquarters emphasized.
