Defense Ministry, Armed Forces fulfilled tasks for 2020 - Taran

He said this during an extended meeting of the Board of the Defense Ministry, the ministry’s press service reports.

"Despite the pandemic and new challenges facing the state in 2020, the tasks set for the Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been fulfilled in general. In 2021, the efforts of the Defense Ministry will be focused primarily on internal transformation processes on a Euro-Atlantic basis. The Defense Ministry of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine remain committed to reforms aimed at bringing the Armed Forces closer to NATO norms and standards,” said Taran.

According to him, 2020 was the year of completion of the implementation of the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine and the State Program for the Development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, the reforms had been carried out over the past four years in line with these documents.

"The assessment of the Annual National Program - 2020 also testifies to our progress in the implementation of reforms," ​​the minister said.

Taran has also added that the development of key strategic documents for the country have been launched in 2020. These documents are the Defense Plan of Ukraine, the Military Security Strategy and the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine.
