For the first time in history, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has concluded direct foreign economic agreements for military goods.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran signed a number of defense contracts with Turkish companies, the ministry's press service reported.

This event took place during the visit of a Turkish delegation led by Head of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) of the Republic of Turkey İsmail Demir to Kyiv.

According to the minister, these are projects designed to radically strengthen the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy to increase security in the region of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. These are the first specific agreements within the framework of the recently signed agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.

Taran told members of the Turkish delegation that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the prompt steps to implement the agreements reached during his recent visit to Turkey. The head of state hopes that the enterprises of the Ukrainian defense complex will receive a powerful impetus for development using Turkish technologies and investments.

In turn, İsmail Demir noted that Turkey and Ukraine have many common areas of cooperation in the defense industry. According to him, the rapid transition from agreements to practical cooperation gives hope for its significant mutually beneficial result.

As reported, in October, Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran and Head of the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) of the Republic of Turkey İsmail Demir signed a memorandum outlining their intentions to launch and implement joint projects to build warships, unmanned aerial vehicles and all types of turbines.

At the same time, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran and Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Hulusi Akar signed a framework military agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Turkey.
