Financing of the Ukrainian security and defense sector in 2021 is projected at 5.92% of GDP instead of 5.45% set for the current year.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Danilov stated this at a meeting dedicated to the development of the defense budget for 2021, the NSDC’s press service reported.

“Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov noted that the amount of expenditures for the Ukrainian security and defense sector in the draft budget for 2021 is projected at 5.92% of GDP. He reminded that the relevant figure for 2020 was 5.45% of GDP," reads the report.

Earlier, during a meeting on the defense budget for 2021 on September 3, Danilov stated that the ongoing military aggression in eastern Ukraine is one of the key threats to the national security and thus it is impossible to reduce the level of expenditures for the Ukrainian security and defense sector in 2021.
