On August 23, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire in Donbas with two provocative shots.

“On August 23, no shelling was recorded on majority of the areas of responsibility of Ukrainian troops. Our servicepersons comply with the ceasefire regime and are ready to give a proper response to possible insidious actions of the enemy,” the press center of the JFO Headquarters reports.

At the same time, it is noted that the Russian-led forces opened fire from small arms and an under-barrel grenade launcher near Avdiivka (17km north of Donetsk) and small arms outside Zaitseve (62km north-east of Donetsk). In both cases, the shots were provocative in nature and did not pose a threat to the life of Ukrainian defenders, so Joint Forces did not fire back. In addition, invaders conducted engineering works to equip positions for advancing towards the Joint Forces units near Marinka (23km south-west of Donetsk).

In total, the Ukrainian troops documented three violations of the agreements reached within the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group over the past 24 hours.

“No combat casualties have been reported among the Ukrainian troops. The situation in the JFO area remains completely controlled by Ukrainian soldiers. Today, August 24, the ceasefire has been observed in all parts of the front, no violations have been recorded,” the Headquarters informs.
