OSCE SMM reports on increase in ceasefire violations in Donbas

The OSCE SMM monitors reports on an increase in ceasefire violations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in eastern Ukraine.

“In Donetsk region, the SMM recorded more ceasefire violations, including more explosions (about 150), compared with the previous reporting period (about 85 explosions),” reads the daily report of the OSCE SMM to Ukraine issued on 8 May 2020.

As noted, most ceasefire violations, including most explosions, were recorded at south-westerly and northwesterly directions of Yasynuvata (non-government-controlled, 16km north-east of Donetsk), within a 5km radius of the Donetsk Filtration Station (DFS) (15km north of Donetsk), and in areas near the disengagement area close to Petrivske (nongovernment-controlled, 41km south of Donetsk).

In Luhansk region, the SMM recorded more ceasefire violations, including more explosions (about 125), compared with the previous reporting period (about 50 explosions).

“Most ceasefire violations, including most explosions, some of which assessed as artillery rounds, were recorded in areas north-east, south-east, south-west and north-west of the disengagement area near Zolote (government-controlled, 60km west of Luhansk); at south-westerly directions of Kriakivka (government-controlled, 38km north-west of Luhansk); and in areas south-east of Muratove (government-controlled, 51km north-west of Luhansk),” the report reads.
