Khomchak, Zmeko discuss fight against COVID-19 – Defense Ministry
"During the talk, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces outlined the situation in the Ukrainian Armed Forces to counteract the spread of the acute respiratory disease COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the current military and political situation in Ukraine and its borders, in particular, in the Joint Forces Operation area,” reads the statement.
Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces Daniel Zmeko told how his subordinate forces were helping to tackle the COVID-19 spread, as well as supporting the local border guards, police and citizens.
The parties discussed the areas of further military cooperation and exchange of experience on NATO standards in the field of capabilities development between the armed forces of both countries. In particular, the Commanders-in-Chief agreed to adjust the bilateral cooperation plan for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the area of joint activities and exercises.
Daniel Zmeko stressed that one of his priorities is to ensure the visit of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the Slovak Republic in 2020 and participation in joint crisis response.
On the initiative of the Slovak side, the interlocutors agreed to coordinate joint efforts and to communicate on a regular basis.
