OSCE records MLRS in occupied Luhansk region

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine has recorded multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) and towed howitzers located in violation of withdrawal lines in non-government-controlled areas of the Luhansk region, according to a daily report published by the SMM on January 30.

According to aerial imagery, on January 24, the OSCE SMM saw four multiple launch rocket systems (type undetermined) in a training area near Buhaivka (37km south-west of Luhansk) and three more multiple launch rocket systems (type undetermined) near Miusynsk (62km south-west of Luhansk). All weapons were placed in violation of withdrawal lines.

At the same time, 22 tanks were spotted in a training area near Buhaivka. Sixty-eight armored combat vehicles were also observed in the area.

In addition to MLRS, the SMM saw two tanks, 22 self-propelled howitzers, and 13 units of towed artillery near Miusynsk. Forty-one armored combat vehicles were also observed in the area.

According to the SMM report, 17 tanks (type undetermined), five units of self-propelled artillery or mortars (type undetermined), and 26 units of towed artillery (type undetermined) were seen in a training area near Myrne (28km south-west of Luhansk). Forty-one armored combat vehicles were also observed in the area.

All these weapons were located outside designated storage sites, the OSCE SMM said.
