Sajdik: Demining works should start in Petrivske area not later than November 13

Demining works in the Petrivske area in Donbas, where the withdrawal of forces and hardware was launched on November 9, should begin not later than November 13.

Ambassador Martin Sajdik, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), issued the following statement to the press after the meeting of the TCG ‎and its working groups in Minsk on November 12, 2019.

“On November 9, 2019 the sides launched the renewed withdrawal of their forces and hardware in the Petrivske area. The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission expects the sides’ formal notification of the completion of withdrawal tomorrow at the latest. Also, not later than tomorrow [November 13], demining works shall start in the Petrivske area,” reads the statement.

According to him, the repair works on the bridge across the Siverskyi Donets river in the Stanytsia Luhanska disengagement area continue successfully, which are expected to be completed by the end of this month.

Ambassador Martin Sajdik again called on the sides “to continue taking full responsibility in fulfilling their obligations under the TCG Framework Decision relating to disengagement of forces and hardware.”
