Disengagement of troops starts near Bohdanivka and Petrivske in Donetsk region

Ukrainian military and Russian-occupation troops have started to withdraw forces and hardware near the village of Bohdanivka in Donetsk region after signal rockets were launched.

 “White rockets were launched at 12:01, green rockets were launched at 12:15 and the equipment began to move at 12:20. Our equipment – one armored vehicle and one Ural vehicle – and seven personnel members began to occupy positions previously defined within the framework of disengagement. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, the servicepersons and the military equipment will be withdrawn,” head of the JFO press center Andriy Aheev informed.

He also said that the Ukrainian side had received confirmation from the OSCE SMM monitors staying in the uncontrolled territory about the launch of rockets and the beginning of withdrawal by militants.

As reported, the disengagement of troops in the area of ​​Bohdanivka and Petrivske localities in Donetsk region, scheduled for November 4, was postponed due to the attacks on positions of the Joint Forces which had been recorded on October 30.

On November 8, the Ukrainian side announced its readiness to start the practical process of the disengagement of forces and hardware at the aforementioned site No. 3 at 12:00. At the same time, Russian-occupation troops announced that they would start disengagement on their side only on November 9.

Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group, Ambassador Martin Sajdik stated that the Trilateral Contact Group, with the participation of representatives of certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, agreed on the date and time of the start of the renewed withdrawal of forces and hardware from the disengagement area of Petrivske on Saturday, 9 November 2019, at 12:00 Kyiv time.

On November 8, the JFO Headquarters released the statement on the disruption of disengagement of troops in the area of Bohdanivka and Petrivske by militants.
