Ukraine to demand from Russia compensation for cost of destroyed houses in Donbas

Funds spent on compensation for destroyed houses in Donbas will be included in the consolidated claim of Ukraine to the Russian Federation for reimbursement of costs, the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs of Ukraine has reported.
"The funds spent on the compensation for destroyed houses will be included in the consolidated claim of Ukraine to the Russian Federation for the implementation of its international legal responsibility for the armed aggression against Ukraine," the statement reads.
According to the Law of Ukraine, responsibility for material or non-material damage caused to Ukraine as a result of Russia’s armed aggression rests with the Russian Federation in accordance with the principles and norms of international law.
As reported, at a meeting on July 10, the Cabinet of Ministers established a mechanism of monetary compensation for destroyed private houses as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
