Nobody ordered Ukrainian military in Donbas not to return fire - Khomchak
He said this in an interview with BBC News Ukrainian.
"There is a war there, and all the commanders are in their places. The commander of the division manages the division, the platoon commander manages the platoon, and the company commander manages the company. They received no orders not to return fire," Khomchak said.
According to him, "no one who understands at least something in the war will give such an order. And there were no such orders. I did not receive such orders from our military and political leadership, and I did not give such orders. And I know for sure that commanders there in the JFO [Joint Forces Operation] did not and will not give such orders," Khomchak said.
According to him, the spread of such information is an element of informational and psychological warfare.
On June 5, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, Leonid Kuchma, said it was necessary to fix the "not to return fire" clause in new agreements on a ceasefire in the zone of the armed conflict in Donbas. Later, Kuchma specified that the issue of the prohibition to return fire in Donbas was his own opinion, rather than the decision of the incumbent president.
