Russian-led troops fire mortars and artillery in Donbas, one Ukrainian soldier wounded

The armed formations of the Russian Federation violated ceasefire five times, using weapons banned under the Minsk agreements twice, in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in Donbas over the past day.

“The enemy used 122mm artillery, 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of different systems, heavy machine guns and small arms to launch attacks on Ukrainian defenders,” the press center of the JFO Headquarters reports.

In the zone of action of tactical force “East”, Russian-led forces opened fire from grenade launchers of different systems and small arms on Ukrainian troops near Marinka (23km south-west of Donetsk).

In the zone of action of tactical force “North”, the enemy used 122mm artillery systems, 120mm and 82mm mortars, grenade launchers of different systems and heavy machine guns to shell Ukrainian positions near Zolote-4 (59km west of Luhansk); 82mm mortars – outside Novooleksandrivka (65km west of Luhansk); grenade launchers of different systems – in the area of Popasna (69km west of Luhansk).

One Ukrainian soldier was wounded in shelling. The Joint Forces adequately returned fire in response to the enemy’s shooting.

According to intelligence, two invaders were annihilated and one more was wounded on May 22. In addition, the enemy lost one infantry fighting vehicle and one military truck.

Today, the enemy has not opened fire yet.

The Joint Forces reliably control the enemy on the contact line, adhering to ceasefire agreements.
