Escalation in Donbas: 25 enemy attacks, one Ukrainian soldier killed, three wounded in last day

On May 7, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated ceasefire 25 times in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in Donbas, using the weapons banned under the Minsk agreements 12 times.

“The enemy used 122 artillery systems, 120mm and 82mm mortars, battle tank cannons, weapons on infantry fighting vehicles, antitank missile systems, heavy machine guns, grenade launchers, automatic small arms and sniping weapons to shell Ukrainian defenders,” the press center of the JFO Headquarters reports.

In the zone of action of tactical force “East”, Russian-led forces opened fire from 122 artillery systems and mounted antitank grenade launchers on Ukrainian troops near Novotroitske (36km south-west of Donetsk), 120mm mortars, weapons on infantry fighting vehicles and grenade launchers of different systems – outside Avdiivka (17km north of Donetsk); 82mm mortars, heavy machine guns and small arms – in the area of Vodiane (94km south of Donetsk); grenade launchers of different systems – near Mykolaivka (77km west of Luhansk); grenade launchers of different systems, heavy machine guns and small arms – outside Hnutove (20km north-east of Mariupol); automatic mounted grenade launchers and small arms – in the area of Nevelske (18km north-west of Donetsk); automatic mounted grenade launchers – near Starohnativka (51km south of Donetsk); hand-held antitank grenade launchers – outside Novoselivka Druha (36km north-east of Mariupol); heavy machine guns and small arms – in the area of Lebedynske (16km east of Mariupol); small arms – near Bohdanivka (41km south-west of Donetsk).

In the zone of action of tactical force “North”, the enemy used 122mm artillery systems, battle tank cannons, 120mm mortars, antitank missile systems and heavy machine guns to shell Ukrainian positions near Novozvanivka (70km west of Luhansk); 122mm artillery systems, 120mm mortars, weapons on infantry fighting vehicles and automatic mounted grenade launchers – outside Popasna (69km west of Luhansk); 120mm and 82mm mortars – in the area of Katerynivka (64km west of Luhansk); 120mm mortars – near Vilne (70km south-west of Donetsk); sniping weapons – outside Pivdenne (40km north-east of Donetsk); small arms – within a disengagement area near Stanytsia Luhanska (16km north-east of Luhansk).

One serviceman of the Joint Forces was killed, another three were wounded in shelling. The Joint Forces units adequately returned fire in response to the enemy provocations. Ukrainian troops did not fired back within a disengagement area near Stanytsia Luhanska.

According to the intelligence, three invaders were annihilated and two more were wounded on May 7. Ukrainian troops also destroyed two enemy’s infantry fighting vehicles and a fortified emplacement.

Today, the Russian-led forces have already shelled Ukrainian positions near Marinka (23km south-west of Donetsk), using grenade launchers of different systems and near Pavlopol (25km north-west of Mariupol), using automatic mounted grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms.

As a result of shelling, one Ukrainian serviceman was killed.
