U.S. Embassy calls on Russia to promote mine clearance in Donbas

Ukrinform
The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine calls on Russia to fulfill its Minsk commitments and promote mine clearance of territories in the zone of armed conflict in Donbas.

The embassy wrote this on Twitter on the occasion of honoring the memory of U.S. citizen Joseph Stone, an OSCE SMM paramedic killed in the line of duty two years ago in eastern Ukraine.

“The OSCE SMM works in dangerous conditions, facing threats including mines and harassment from Russia-led forces. We call for demining efforts to move forward and we call on Russia to fulfill its Minsk commitments,” the embassy said.

SMM medic Joseph Stone was tragically killed two years ago when an SMM armoured vehicle was struck by an explosion, most likely caused by an anti-tank mine in a non-government controlled area near Pryshyb in Luhansk region.
