“When someone talks about the current problems in the army, I think that the problems in 2014 and the current ones differ much. Compared with the beginning of 2014, the number of military units (brigades, regiments, separate battalions, etc.) has increased by 44 (from 99 in 2014 up to 143 in 2018). In particular, the number of military combat units has grown by 33," Muzhenko said in an interview with the Fakty newspaper.
Over past five years, about 80 types of weapons and military equipment have been put into service, more than 150 types have been approved for under-control operation; about 2,500 units of new or modernized weapons and military equipment have been supplied to the troops; the serviceability of more than 16,200 units of weapons and military equipment has been restored, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.
He reminded that Ukrainian troops had received domestic anti-tank missile systems "Corsar" and "Stuhna", unmanned aerial vehicles "Aist" and "Furia" and armored vehicles last year and already this year.
Muzhenko said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine “are able to protect the country against external threats and deter aggression in Donbas” but noted that "we need the support of the international partners, of course."
“Our path towards NATO is unchanged, and we constantly declare this,” he reminded.
