Canada reaffirms commitment to eliminate landmines in Ukraine

Canada aims to eliminate landmines in the territory of Ukraine until 2025.

“On International Mine Awareness Day, Canada reaffirms its commitment to eliminate landmines through initiatives in Iraq, Ukraine, Colombia, Cambodia and Laos, working toward a mine-free world for 2025,” the Global Affairs Canada posted on Twitter.

As a reminder, the United Nations' General Assembly declared that 4 April of each year to be observed as the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. On this day, a large number of activities are held around the world to spread awareness about the elimination of landmines and explosive remnants of war. Canada helps the Armed Forces of Ukraine to carry out mine clearance on the territories, where the armed hostilities have been taking place.
