British Navy officers to arrive in Ukraine for planning joint exercises

A group of British Navy officers will arrive in Ukraine in January to plan joint exercises with the Ukrainian Navy.

"The decisions we made are related to launch of training of marines. In January, a group of servicemen of the British Navy officers will arrive in Ukraine to organize interaction, plan joint exercises and define the scope of necessary assistance to the Ukrainian Naval Forces," Ukrainian Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak said following the working visit of UK Secretary of State for Defence Mr Gavin Williamson to Ukraine, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.

According to Poltorak, the issues of stepping up the implementation of a number of specific measures and decisions, which had been taken in London given the deterioration of the security situation and the aggression of the Russian Federation against the Naval Forces of Ukraine’s Armed Forces in the Kerch Strait, and the situation on Ukraine-Russia border were discussed at the meeting on Friday.
