President of Ukraine: Army to get over UAH 100 bln next year

In 2019, the expenditures for the needs of Ukrainian army will exceed UAH 102 billion (about $3.7 billion).
“More than UAH 102 billion will be allocated for the army next year,” President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during the ceremony of weapons and military equipment transfer to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He added that funding of the army next year would be increased by UAH 16 billion compared to the current year.
The defense spending next year will exceed 3% of GDP, while more than 5% of GDP is planned to be spent on the defense and security sector on the whole, the Head of State stressed.
