About UAH 21 bln directed to state defense order in 2018

Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Yuriy Brovchenko said this at a press conference dedicated to the results of the ministry’s work in 2018, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"As to the state defense order, this year about UAH 21 billion was directed to the purchase of weapons, military equipment, research and development work. In 2019, the estimated sum will remain at this year’s level, although it may grow to UAH 25 billion,” said Brovchenko.

As reported, the state budget for 2019 provides for the allocation of 5.38% of GDP for the security and defense sector. Expenditures for improving the defense and security of the state in 2019 are foreseen in the amount of UAH 211.9 billion (of which UAH 5 billion - state guarantees).
