In 2019-2020, Ukrainian sailors will continue their training and internships as part of NATO's Defence Education Enhancement Programme (DEEP).

Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Rusnak discussed this during a meeting with a group of experts of the NATO program headed by Director of NATO’s DEEP Mr. Mariusz Solis, the press center of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.

"The purpose of the event was to summarize the results of the current year and to discuss areas of cooperation for 2019-2020, taking into account the need to increase training for naval personnel and taking into account the worsening security situation in the area of the Black and Azov Seas," the report reads.

According to Rusnak, the implementation of NATO standards into educational process and the study of English are the key factors to successful training of Ukrainian sailors in accordance with NATO standards.

In turn, the director of NATO’s DEEP focused on intentions for further cooperation and the provision of comprehensive assistance under the NATO program.
